Ramada – Sutton Coldfield – Penns Lane – lots of parking, lovely setting – beer is extortionate and if you smoke the bar, reception or restaurant do not have lighters or matches!!

The Cock Inn – Wishaw – part of a chain as we discovered – a chain of very nice places including the White Swan in Edgbaston / Harborne and the Boot in Lapworth. **If you are staying at the Belfry** do not eat or drink there if you can get a taxi here – **it is better**.

Found down a country lane – very close to the Belfry, as the crow flys, but a the route is wiggly and at least a mile. The food is very good but not the best – they try very hard to produce excellent food but fall short. That said this is not pub food, it is very good. The selection of drinks is fabulous and the atmosphere, decor and furniture is wonderful. The place is always busy – what better recommendation? Don’t think about it – just go there if you get the chance.

The Fox – Walmley (sp?) – like a Toby carvery but not. Similar theme – good food – not an exciting environment, but good if you are hungry!

The Belfry – technically in Wishaw – easy to find from the M42 – huge leisure complex grown from a golf course. Now with a nightclub and a huge hotel. Easy to get lost in. Always busy at the bar – it stays open very late. Famous for the Ryder Cup and the 10th hole (easily reachable, but a very small target). Go here if you love golf. Not near anything else – just like being stuck at the airport, but with a bigger garden lol. Not that expensive given how exclusive it would appear to be.

Nothing better than to relax on a sunny afternoon than to sit outside on the terrace at Sam’s bar at the Belfry. A couple of cold ones to refresh yourself after a game of golf overlooking the famous 10th tee and 18th green where so much excitement has happened – then off for a shower to prepare for evening and wait for your escort to arrive!
