Central Birmingham Restaurants
The city’s culinary scene shot to national recognition this year with the acclaimed Michelin guide awarding stars to three of Birmingham’s best places to eat. Turner’s restaurant in Harborne and Purnell’s restaurant in the city centre both received Michelin stars, while Simpsons restaurant in Edgbaston has retained its star for the fifth year running.
Birmingham now has the most Michelin stars of any English city outside London. What’s more, The Times newspaper calls the city ‘England’s second culinary capital’-– how’s that for a claim to fame?!
Our favourites are these though:
San Carlos – don’t care how many Michelin stars it doesn’t have – the food and the service is exquisite here – we go there a lot! It isn’t cheap – but try the Bifsteaka Medigliani (two big fillet steaks in a truffle sauce) – you won’t regret it – or even the house Lasagne (don’t knock it till you try it – but it takes 20 minutes to cook) is absolutely fabulous. Lots of fresh fish and shell fish on offer every day – we love it!
TGI Fridays – great fun, great party atmosphere a good venue to take your Birmingham escort – get a cab its too far to walk!
